Как сообщал УНИАН, в центре Одессы на вечер 14 октября был запланирован Марш героев, в котором предполагалось участие представителей организации «Патриоты Украины», Социал-национальной ассамблеи, а также бойцов батальона «Азов», прибывших в Одессу для ротации из зоны проведения антитеррористической операции. Заявлялось об участии 300 человек, которые планировали пройти через центр города с факелами. Общественный порядок должны были обеспечивать сотрудники милиции совместно с представителями организации «Патриоты Украины».

Однако в местной ячейке организации «Патриоты Украины» сегодня заявили об отмене Марша героев, чтобы избежать провокаций. «Есть достоверная информация о том, что сепаратистские элементы предпримут определенные шаги для того, что бы в городе произошли массовые беспорядки с жертвами. К сожалению, мы не можем гарантировать безопасность граждан. Поэтому мы решили марш отменить, но поддержать акцию в Киеве», – сказали в организации.

Вместо этого местные, одесситы организовали свой собственный парад в честь 72-й годовщины образования Украинской повстанческой армии (боевиков ОУН(б)):

Urban Jews were led from their ghettoes to pits a few kilometers away, stripped of the clothes and belongings, forced to lie down and machine gunned by SS men. The Ukrainian police’s duty was the murder of Jews who tried to escape the ghetto as it was liquidated, the murder of Jews who sought to escape along the way, and the murder of Jews who survived the machine gun salvos. The Final Solution in smaller towns and villages is less well documented, but here the Ukrainian police played a greater part. All in all, about 12 000 Ukrainian policemen assisted about 1400 German policemen in the murder of about 200 000 Volynian Jews. Although their share in the killing was small, these Ukrainian policemen provided the labor that made the Holocaust possible in Volynya. They worked right through December 1942.

The next spring March-April 1943, virtually all of these Ukrainian policemen left the German police to join the Ukrainian partisans of the UPA. One of their major tasks as UPA partisans was the cleansing of the Polish presence in Volynia… People learn to do what they are trained to do, and are good at doing what they’ve done many times. Ukrainian partisans, who mass-murdered Poles in 1943, followed the tactics they learned as collaborators in the Holocaust in 1942…

“The Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists under the leadership of Stepan Bandera provided the engine of the pogrom. It set up a short-lived government in Lviv on 30 June 1941 headed by a vehement anti-Semite (Yaroslav Stetsko). It simultaneously plastered the city with leaflets that encouraged ethnic cleansing. It also formed a militia that assumed a leadership role in the pogrom. Militiamen went from apartment to apartment in Jewish neighbourhoods to arrest Jewish men and women for pogrom activities at two of the prisons; they arrested Jews on the street for a third prison that was more distant from where the Jewish population was concentrated. They conveyed the Jews to the prisons and were also present there at the maltreatment and execution of Jews. The day after the pogrom they began to work directly for the Einsatzgruppen, again arresting Jews for execution by the Germans.”
